Our approach

How physiotherapy helps

We look beyond the symptoms to understand what is really going on — then build a plan around you.

Antenatal physiotherapy supports you through pregnancy, and postnatal physiotherapy supports your recovery after birth. Care is available to women in Albany and across the Great Southern, including abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti), pelvic girdle pain and returning to exercise.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed — you are welcome to self-refer at any time. We also accept GP Chronic Condition Management Plans (GPCCMP) and NDIS referrals.

Is physiotherapy safe during pregnancy?

Pelvic health physiotherapy can be safely provided during pregnancy for many people, with assessment and treatment adapted to your stage of pregnancy, individual health and any relevant obstetric considerations.

When can I start after having my baby?

You can seek physiotherapy support at any stage after birth. The timing and type of assessment or treatment will be tailored to your recovery, symptoms and individual circumstances.

Is an internal examination compulsory?

Never. An internal assessment can be valuable but is always optional and only ever done with your informed consent.

Can I bring my baby?

Absolutely. You are welcome to bring your baby, partner or a support person.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in. You will always be draped and kept comfortable.

Will treatment hurt?

Treatment is tailored to your comfort. If an assessment or treatment reproduces symptoms or feels uncomfortable, it can be modified or stopped at any time.

Can I claim through private health?

Yes — if your private health extras cover physiotherapy, appointments are paid in full on the day. You can then submit your receipt to your private health fund to claim any rebate.
